Who knew the scent of funeral homes could be characterized as a “pick-me-up”?
I love the story behind this scent, as explained in the product description:
This scent actually started out to be Flower Show. Now our founding perfumer personally did NOT like most white flowers so this was a tough fragrance for him to develop. When a friend first smelled this one and exclaimed: “it smells like my Grandfather’s funeral… call it Funeral Home!”, so we did.
The design got me at first glance. Then the scent hooked me. And now that I understand the creative concept, I’m all in.
Created by Belgian avant-garde designer Maison Martin Margiela, Replica is a collection of six fragrances inspired by familiar scents and moments of varying locations and periods. Lazy Sunday morning is “a recollection of silky skin, crumpled linen sheets and the reassuring scent of fresh laundry,” while Jazz Club is inspired by heady cocktails and cigars in Brooklyn.
As a fan of musky florals, I love Promenade in the Gardens, a combination of crispy green accord with Turkish rose and Patchouli. Equally delicious is Flower Market, inspired by the scent of freshly cut jasmine and tuberose in Paris.

Actually, I have two Deals of the Day today, and they’re both from Kate Spade Saturday. This purple Building Blocks Long Necklace is regularly $50, but it’s on sale for $17.50 or $20, which I realize is confusing. On the sale browse page, it’s listed for $17.50, but on the article description page, it’s listed for $20.
The Glazed Mug is regularly $10, but it’s on sale for $7.50 when you enter this discount code at checkout before April 20, 2014: HOMERUN.
I loved the garden of works by Juan Miró at Fondation Maeght in St-Paul-de-Vence, France. I visited the museum in March 2014, while writing a travel piece for a yet-to-be-launched luxury beauty site.
